I know that for those of you who work long hours, lunch is not an option. But there are other meals during the day that can be the perfect opportunity to have some time with your child. Try sharing breakfast before you leave for work or if you get back from work make your mission to eat dinner as a family. Sharing a meal is a great way to talk about your day.
You can learn about their school projects or what they do with their friends. Let them talk and share their thoughts. Try to leave your obligations and all your troubles out of the conversation. Keep the mood light, make some jokes and show them that a meal with your parents can be fun. Remember that during the teenage years some issues might seem huge when in reality they are not. Your child doesn’t have the experience to know that. Be patient!
